Weddings
Whimsical. Naturalistic. Off-Beat. Fresh. Sustainable. These are all words that can describe wedding flowers designed by Blue Door Flower Farm. We grow the majority of our flowers right here in Woodstock, Vermont, with support from other local and semi-local flower farms throughout Vermont, New Hampshire, and beyond in order to deliver and design seasonal, local flowers that are deeply personalized and distinctive.
Our flowers are grown using low-till and environmentally-friendly practices which allow pollinators to thrive on our farm, while also creating rich, healthy soil that allows us to grow our bountiful blooms! In addition to growing a majority of our flowers right here on-site, we pride ourselves in avoiding the use of toxic floral foams and single-use plastics wherever possible. All organic floral materials are composted right here on our farm, and we reuse vessels and containers as much as possible.
We love working with couples seeking a personalized atmosphere filled with whimsy and beauty. Due to our commitment to providing the freshest, locally-grown, sustainable blooms for our couples, our primary wedding services are currently offered during the Vermont growing season: from approximately the second week of May through the last week of October. With the addition of a high tunnel in the next year, we hope to extend our growing season in the future. We also maintain multiple wholesale relationships with other local and semi-local growers, as well as sourcing specialty and hard-to-find blooms internationally. We offer year-round wedding and event floral design.

Process
-
New Client Questionnaire: Get cozy with your love, and take some time to fill out the New Client Questionnaire. You don’t need to know all of the answers, but this is a great way for me to get to know you and your vision. I ask that you and your fiance fill this out just the two of you. We can invite others into the process later on, but it’s important for me to understand your vision as a couple.
-
Follow-Up and Preliminary Proposal: I will follow-up with an email confirming that I received your questionnaire. From there, I will start working on your preliminary proposal. This could take anywhere from a day to a week depending on how many other proposals and events I have at that time. I will always communicate openly with you so you aren’t waiting for an answer. All images and colors used in the proposal are simply for inspiration; your wedding will be completely customized.
-
Proposal Review and Retainer: You have up to one week to review the proposal and reach out with any changes you’d like to see. I will reserve your date for that week pending your response. If everything aligns with your vision and budget, we will set up a complimentary, one-hour phone call or meeting to go over the proposal and make final adjustments. Once you sign the contract and proposal, and send in your retainer deposit, your date will be reserved. Please note: your date is not reserved until the retainer fee and signed proposal/contract are received.
-
Planning: The planning really begins! This is the fun part, where I really tweak your proposal to fit, and hopefully surpass, your vision.

The Fine Print:
-
I highly suggest reaching out to Blue Door as soon as possible so that I can not only reserve your date, but have ample time to plan and design. Full-service weddings should be booked at least 12 months in advance; elopements and micro-weddings at least 3-6 months out.

Our time together includes the initial, complimentary consultation; one planned site visit; and two follow-up phone calls. Additional meetings, site visits, and conversations are subject to a $45/hour rate, in addition to the IRS mileage rate. It is important that you jot down any questions and ideas ahead of setting up a conversation to get the most out of our time together. Brief emails are totally fine, but anything that requires a lengthier response needs to be an appointment. My “office hours” are on Tuesday evenings between 5:00-8:00 EST, and Friday mornings between 9:00-12:00 EST. I am not able to accommodate times outside of those unless it is an absolute emergency.

Please do not skip reading through the entire contract. It is very important for all stakeholders to understand the process! My contract is very detailed, and outlines almost every possible scenario, question, and so on that may come up.
